NAQOURA, DECEMBER 12 – Traveling to the Middle East, the Italian Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Maurizio Massari, met with UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander, General Aroldo Lazaro. Massari praised the peacekeepers’ efforts to maintain peace and security in Southern Lebanon in line with the indications of Security Council Resolution 1701.
“Continue to count on Italy’s support to address the challenges UNIFIL faces in carrying out its mandate,” the Italian Ambassador said.
Italy contributes a thousand blue helmets to UNIFIL. It has also provided the U.N. peacekeeping force with four Heads of Mission: generals Claudio Graziano, Paolo Serra, Luciano Portolano and Stefano Del Col. (@OnuItalia)
