Zappia attends meeting of Energy Transition Coalition, access to renewable energies with an eye to Climate Summit in September

NEW YORK, APRIL 11 – As a member of the Energy Transition Coalition, Italy is working hard to find ambitious and concrete solutions to accelerate access to renewable energies with an eye towards the Climate Summit in September. The Italian Permanent Representative Mariangela Zappia took part in a meeting in New York attended by representatives from frontrunner countries in energy transition.

Goal of the ETC, established in 2017, is to move the world onto a trajectory of sustainable low carbon economic growth while meeting increasing global energy demand and addressing climate change. Technologies and business models to do so are available today.

The Coalition, which is supported by IRENA, assembles countries leading in developing long term energy transition strategies to foster investments in a low carbon energy sector. Ensuring increased investor certainty for low carbon economic growth by developing energy transition strategies is at the heart of the Energy Transition Coalition which aims at enabling the sharing of expertise, exchange of best practices, and development of innovative approaches to accelerate power sector transformation through integrating higher shares of renewable energy in energy supply and energy use and improving energy efficiency.
