NEW YORK, JANUARY 3–The Italian Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Maurizio Massari, met today with his Ukrainian colleague, Sergiy Kyslytsya. “We shared a common resolve to achieve a just and lasting peace,” Massari commented on Twitter, “Accountability and respect for the principles of the UN Charter’s principles are key to make it happen.”
The meeting was the first in 2023 for the two ambassadors. In his message for the beginning of the new year, Massari listed as his “primary hope” for the new year the end of the conflict triggered by the Russian aggression against Ukraine. “Italy will continue to work intensively in this direction,” the ambassador pledged.
