NEW YORK, MAY 4 – The Italian Minister for Tourism, Massimo Ghigh level dialogue on sustainability and tourism at UN Headquarters. “Sustainability through a UN campaign on the management of tourist flows is an important result that will allow us to move from words to actions. Once the pandemic is over, we are struggling again with the theme of sustainability, especially in our big art cities, of tourist flows. We think that, with an intelligent management, using digital innovation, we can better distribute tourists access throughout the year, therefore increasing the duration and sustainability of our assets”, said Garavaglia.
The Italian Minister today met with the President of the General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid. They exchanged views on the importance and urgency of a sustainable recovery of tourism in order to relaunch the global economy. “Italy has an important role to play in debt-sustainability as a member of the G20”, said Shahid.
At the end of June, Italy will host in Sorrento the Global Youth Tourism Summit: “The future will not be as before anymore, but next generations will create it, choose it and decide it. What a better opportunity than organise, this year, a world congress in Italy on youth tourism to hear their opinion on why has tourism changed forever?”, said Garavaglia adding that the education campaign in defence of Italian historical and artistic sites at a global level will start precisely from Sorrento.
