VIENNA, OCTOBER 13 – The Permanent Mission of Italy, in collaboration with the University of Vienna, hosted on 12 October a workshop on the Codes of Conduct for Arbitrators and Judges in Investor-State Disputes (ISDS), adopted at UNCITRAL.
Ambassador Debora Lepre opened the workshop, together with Shane Spelliscy, Chair of UNCITRAL Working Group III, which is examining the overall ISDS reform path. In his keynote speech, Professor Giorgio Sacerdoti outlined the opportunities and challenges posed by the new legal framework from his arbitrator’s perspective. This was followed by an interesting discussion between academics, national experts and officials from international organisations on the background, the rationale and the impact of these instruments.
The event was an opportunity for a fruitful debate on the perspectives of the UNCITRAL agenda on strengthening the trade and investments international governance. (@OnuItalia)
