UNGA78: Massari meets PGA-elect Dennis Francis ahead of SDG Summit

NEW YORK, AUGUST 22 – The Italian Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Maurizio Massari, met today with the President Elect of the 78th General Assembly, Ambassador Dennis Francis, in what the Italian Mission described as an “insightful discussion on the groundwork for the upcoming GA”.

“Italy is ready to strongly support your mandate and to share the outcomes of Rome’s UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment from 24 – 26 July 2023 and its special focus on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) at the upcoming SDG Summit”, the Italian Mission said on its Twitter (X) account.

A former Permanent representative to the UN of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Francis has had a career spanning approximately forty years in the Diplomatic Service his Country. For eighteen of those years unbroken, he held the rank of Ambassador until his compulsory retirement from the Public Service in 2016, according him the distinction of being the longest serving Ambassador of Trinidad and Tobago. Ambassador Francis has served as Trinidad and Tobago’s Principal Representative in Jamaica and Geneva, and before demitting office, as Senior Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on all multilateral matters including Climate Change and the negotiations for the post-2015 Development Agenda.
