Food Systems: UNFSS+2 will take place at FAO July 24-26

ROME, JULY 11 –  The UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment (UNFSS+2) will take place at FAO headquarters in Rome from 24 – 26 July 2023. The event will be hosted by the Government of Italy, in collaboration with the Rome-based UN Agencies (FAO, IFAD, WFP), the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and the wider UN system.

The high-level event will build on the momentum of the 2021 Food Systems Summit and will create a conducive space for countries to review progress on commitments to action and identify successes, enduring bottlenecks and priorities in order to close the implementation gap for food systems transformation.

The three-day meeting will further highlight the central role of food systems transformations in overall advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals ahead of the SDG Summit in September 2023, and advocate for urgent action at scale, building on the latest evidence that sustainable food systems contribute to better and more sustainable outcomes for people, planet and prosperity leaving no one behind.

The Summit will include a high-level opening segment, three high-level-sessions during the opening day, four plenary sessions, several leadership dialogues, special events and side events, as well as a high-level closing session.

The high-level opening ceremony will take place on 24 July at 14:30 CEST and will see the participation of the Prime Minister of Italy, the Director-General of FAO, the President of IFAD, the Executive Director of WFP and a group of Heads of States and governments.

The opening ceremony and main sessions will be webcast on UNWebTV. All sessions will be livestreamed on the event’s virtual campus. (@OnuItalia)
