NEW YORK, JANUARY 6 – ‘Tell it Like a Woman,’ an Italian women’s film about women’s rights, will be screened at the UN Headquarters in early March to draw attention to issues of combating gender-based violence and women’s empowerment. Italy’s initiative at the UN in collaboration with UN Women will coincide with Italy’s 2023 vice-presidency of the UN’s largest agency on women’s rights and will precede the opening of the 67th session of the Commission on the Status of Women scheduled at UN Headquarters from March 6-17.
Seeking private sponsorships to support the screening and a subsequent side event, the Italian Permanent Mission to the UN launched a call for technical and financial support. The initiative will allow interested parties the opportunity to promote their profile in the prestigious setting on the UN. The sponsorship offer must be submitted by January 30 2023.
Premiering at the Taormina Film Festival, ‘Tell It Like a Woman’ is an anthology of seven short stories directed by and starring only female actors from all parts of the world. The international cast of the 15-minute shorts includes David di Donatello winner Margherita Buy, Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden, Cara Delevingne, Leonor Varela, Jacqueline Fernandez, Anne Watanabe and Eva Longoria. Directors include Maria Sole Tognazzi, Lucia Puenzo and Catherine Hardwicke. The film’s song is “Applause,” written by Dianne Warren, 13-time Oscar nominee and Lifetime Academy Award 2022, and performed by Sofia Carson.
The film is a collaboration between Iervolino Entertainment, a film and television content production company owned by Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi, and Chiara Tilesi and Lucas Akoskin’s We do it Together, a nonprofit production company with a focus on gender equality. (@OnuItalia)
