GENEVA/ROME, 19 MAY – The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) joins the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) to launch tomorrow the One Health High-Level Panel. The High-Level Panel, which is supported by the governments of France and Germany, held its inaugural meeting this week.
It will assess the health risks to humans, animals and the environment posed by the emergence of diseases and advise on long-term strategies to reduce the risk of zoonotic pandemics, while identifying research and data gaps.
