ROME, 20 JULY – A virtual ”Technical Seminar on Fishery Equipment and Cold Chain in Somalia” will be held on July 22. The event is organized in collaboration with UNIDO ITPO Italy, by UNIDO Somalia and the Government of Somalia.

This seminar provides a platform for the exchange of technical knowledge and expertise between Italian and Somali companies operating within the cold chain and fishery equipment industry, in order to increase investment opportunities and the transfer of innovative best practices and technologies. This initiative is part of the project ”Agro-Technology Development for Economic Growth in South and Central Somalia”, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and implemented by UNIDO.

The multi-panel discussion will feature many presentations by relevant Italian and Somali companies, associations and stakeholders in the field, promoting alternative fishing models, advanced boat engines and efficient production and packaging of fishing nets, as well as quality refrigeration in the frozen-food industry and technological upgrade in fish processing, conservation and supply chain.

The panelists will introduce their innovative technologies to their attending counterparts so as to foster investment outlook within the Somali blue economy and advance sustainable industrial development in the cold chain and fishery equipment sector of Somalia. (@OnuItalia)
