NEW YORK, AUGUST 24 – This morning, Ambassador Gianluca Greco, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations, chaired an informal briefing where the Executive Board of UN Women, the world’s leading women’s rights agency within the UN system, heard presentations on integrated budget estimates for 2024-2025 and the UN Women ethics function.
Anna-Karin Jatfors, Director, Strategy, Planning, Resources, Effectiveness Division (SPRED), presented the budget estimates for the biennium 2024-2025, while Sarah Leber, Ethics Advisor, illustrated the report on the UN-Women ethics. Italy was elected last January by acclamation to the Vice Presidency of the Executive Board. The election marked a first time for Italy which joined the Board in 2022 with a two years mandate. The Vice Presidency, entrusted to the Permanent Representative Maurizio Massari, will last until January 2024. The 2023 Executive Board Presidency went to the Ukrainian Ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya.
