NEW YORK, APRIL 17 – As the global economy continues to be battered by a series of crises, senior UN officials and government representatives converged today on UN Headquarters in New York, in an attempt to transform the international financial system, and get the internationally-agreed 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development back on track.
Italy co-chaired and took part to the Financing for Development Forum discussions on how to tackle today’s multiple interlinked crises while stepping up financing for long-term sustainable development, leaving no one behind.
The Forum will unfold until April 20 while many countries simply don’t have the resources to invest in recovery, climate action, and sustainable development. The 2023 event is particularly important: this year marks the midpoint between 2015, which saw the launch of the Agenda for Sustainable Development, and 2030, the deadline for completion of the Agenda’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
