NEW YORK, NOVEMBER 22 – The Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Benedetto della Vedova started his two-days visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York with a meeting with Virginia Gamba, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for children in armed conflicts.

During the talks, Italy’s activities at the UN for the protection of minors were discussed, with particular reference to Afghanistan and Libya and in the framework of UNETCHAC, the Universities Network for Children in Armed Conflict. The schedule of meetings for the two-day visit includes talks with Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed and to the co-presidents of the LGBTI group, following the appointment of the first special envoy of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the rights of LGBTQI+, Fabrizio Petri.
