#Youth4Climate: win a chance to participate in PreCop Milan event

ROME, SEPTEMBER 2 – The #Youth4ClimateLive Series is launching the #SumItUp competition with an opportunity to win a chance to participate in the “Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition” event in Milan ahead of the 2021 Pre-COP26. Youth between the ages of 15 and 29 are eligible to apply. If a participant is 17 years of age or younger, their legal guardian must be aware of their participation and submission.

How to do it? It’s simple. Register and attend the monthly #Youth4ClimateLive virtual events (or watch online at Youth4Climate.Live). Then create a #SumItUp visual representation that captures the essence, ideas, and outcomes of three episodes from the #Youth4ClimateLive Series, either episode 1 through 3, 4 through 6, or 7 through 9. There are three opportunities to be chosen as a finalist.

The first deadline for Phase 1 is September 25, 2020. Each sum-up should communicate key takeaways from each of the three episodes within the competition phase rather than a general summary. The goal is to create a visual product that sums up what they need to know from each episode.

A visual representation aims to convey an idea or concept through pictures, numbers, and other observable elements, with as little text or sound as possible. Text is absolutely allowed but only use what’s necessary and be creative with it as well – consider using poetry, alliteration, and rhymes to help draw people in.

While submissions should be centered around visual content, this can take many forms, including but not limited to: infographics, drawings, mind maps, simple animations, and silent videos. Participants will submit their entries through Reach Not Preach. Submissions will be displayed on the platform so the #Youth4ClimateLive audience can vote for their favorite #SumItUp creative visual summary! Your peers will be asked to consider your creativity, originality, accessibility, and how well you summarize key takeaways from the Y4C series.

One finalist will be selected by audience vote for each of the three competition phases;  all three finalists will have their work promoted online and showcased at the Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition event. Of the three finalists, one winner will be selected through audience vote to win a trip (including travel and accommodation) to present their creative sum-up in person at “Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition” in Milan from September 28 to 30, 2021. If the winner is below the age of 18, travel and accommodation will be provided for one guardian. (@OnuItalia)
