SHAMA, JANUARY 13 – Operational readiness, reactivity, interoperability, task flexibility, cooperation capacity, efficient coordination: these are the unique characteristics of the Italian peacekeepers serving abroad. To maximize and further perfection these skills, between the 6th and 10th of January, Italian and Finnish blue helmets within UNIFIL’s Joint Task Force Lebanon-Sector West trained together.
Linguistic barriers were quickly overcome thanks to the high level of technique and procedural standardization, and the professionalism with which they were applied by both units. Particularly interesting were planning phases, motorized patrols phases, and firing ranges exercises. Both sides had the opportunity of gaining experience with the means, materials and weapons of their colleagues.
For the Joint Task Force Lebanon Sector West of UNIFIL such mixed trainings are of particular relevance since in this area 15 nations are working together under the resolution 1701 of the United Nations. (SB@OnuItalia)
