Somalia: Italy in Mogadishu participates to a national forum on child labor

MOGADISHU, OCTOBER 28TH- A national forum on child labor co-organized by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation concluded today in Mogadishu. The event was also sponsored by the Somali trade union FESTU, NEXUS and Valdesa. Representing Italy were Alberto Vecchi, the new Italian Ambassador in Somalia, and Fabio Massimo Ballerini, First Secretary.

Opening the way for this event was the Somalia Partnership Forum launched on the 1st of October, to which Italy also participated. “We will endeavor to move forward, to ensure that progress is achieved and not set back,” said the Somali PM Ali Khary in occasion of the Forum, a message that echoed onto today’s seminar.

Ambassador Vecchi met on October 17th with President Mohamed Farmaajo. “Our traditional relationship is renewed towards a future of cooperation in many fields,” Italy’s Embassy in Somalia said on Twitter. The forum on child labor is a testimony of such cooperation, which will also be further extended in the field of business. Indeed, between the 10th and 11th of December will be the Italy-Somalia Business Forum, dedicated to companies looking for investment opportunities in Somalia. (@OnuItalia)
