Gualtieri, “Italy joins Coalition of Finance Ministers for the Fight Against Climate Change”

ROME, SEPTEMBER 13 – The minister of Economy and Finance, Roberto Gualtieri, announced today from Helsinki that Italy is joining the ‘Coalition of Finance Minister for the Fight Against Climate Change’. One week away from the Climate Summit to be held at the Headquarters, the Italian Ministry of Economy observes that: “The position of Italy has changed, for it had thus far chosen not to participate.”

Gualtieri made the announcement during the Ecofin lunch meeting dedicated to reinforcing climate action. “With this decision we intend to reinforce our commitment for a greener economy and society at the national, european and global level,” declared the neo-minister, met with applause from his colleagues. “Our efforts are concrete”.

Founded in 2018, the Coalition is today composed of 40 countries, almost all of which are European, along with some North American, South American, Asian and African members. The fight for environmental sustainability -necessary to halt climate change- has the potential of generating investments worth 26 trillion dollars and 65 million new jobs between now and 2030.
