GENEVA, JUNE 7 – The WTO’s Goods Council, on 4 June, approved a list of new chairs to the 14 subsidiary bodies that report to the Council. Tiziana Zugliano, Trade Expert from the Ministry of Economic Development at the Italian permanent Mission in Geneva has been elected as Chairwoman of the WTO Committee overseeing the application of the Agreement on Trade related Investment Measures (TRIMs). She takes over from the previous Chairwoman, Carrie Wu of Taiwan.
Zugliano graduated in 2000 from the University of Trieste with a degree in Political Sciences. Following an internship at ILO (International Labour Organization), she worked at the Italian Ministry for Economic Development (2006-2013) specializing in Italian and European trade policies and WTO negotiations. She then moved to Geneva as Trade expert at the Italian Permanent Mission to the International Organization: her main activities there are in relationship with UNCTAD and UNECE, besides the WTO.
