UN Staff College in NY unveils UNLOCK, its Lab targeted to UN staff leading Guterres’ reforms

NEW YORK, JUNE 4 – The Secretary-General far-reaching reform efforts of the UN requires launching a series of complex change management processes, yet there is currently limited professional expertise in change management within the UN system. On Thursday, 6 June the Turin-based UN Staff College will host, in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of Argentina and the Permanent Mission of Italy, an open event on the role knowledge plays in supporting UN reforms.

How can knowledge be key to the success of reforms and to the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda? Acting under the auspices of the UNSSC Knowledge Centre for Leadership and Management, the UN Lab for Organizational Change and Knowledge (UNLOCK) is targeted to UN staff who play leading role in driving implementation of the Secretary-General’s reforms, and aims to strengthen their capacity to design and implement change management processes to roll out the reforms.

The Italian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Mariangela Zappia, and her colleague from Argentina, Martin Garcia Moritan, will take part in the presentation along with Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, UN chief of staff and Chair of the USSC, Atul Khare, Under-Secretary for Operational Support, and Martha Helena Lopez, Assistant Secretary General for Human Resources. Jafar Javan, the Director of UNSSC, will then moderate a discussion with senior staff of UN Women, UNFPA and the UN Secreteriat. (@OnuItalia)
