Undersecretary Tripodi opens International Simposium on Cultural Heritage

Today, Italian Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Maria Tripodi took part in the opening of the 3rd International Symposium on Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage, hosted at the Forlì campus of the University of Bologna and organised by the Heritage International Institute (HII) and the University of Pisa, with a video message.

Tripodi inaugura Simposio sul Patrimonio CulturaleAs highlighted by the Undersecretary in her speech, the Symposium is an exceptional platform for reflection and research on new ways to protect Cultural Heritage, recognising it as an integral part of the identity of every individual and every community. UNESCO is a fundamental actor in this field, and Italy actively contributes to the achievement of its goals with financial and personnel resources, as well as through its membership of the Executive Board of the Organisation and of the World Heritage Committee, but also through its commitment to the implementation of the relevant Conventions on national soil.

Further evidence of this dutiful effort is the Italian commitment to the creation of the Virtual Museum on National Cultural Heritage, launched in 2021 and recently enriched with the expansion dedicated to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Emilia-Romagna (Bologna, Ferrara, Modena and Ravenna).

“The preservation, promotion and protection of the Cultural Heritage from all threats, in a world scenario plagued by conflicts and crises, appear to be an unavoidable global imperative,” concluded Tripodi, in wishing the Symposium’s proceedings every success.(@OnuItalia)
