NEW YORK, SEPTEMBER 28 – Following the conclusion of the high-level segment of the General Assembly, the 78th UNGA’s proceedings have now entered a significant phase with the first plenary meeting of the Third Committee, the GA branch responsible for defending human rights and promoting the social agenda of the United Nations worldwide.
“Italy is ready to do its part in implementing human rights and the UN’s social agenda and is committed to achieving sustainable development goals by focusing on values of inclusivity and integration,” said the Italian delegation. Italy aims to achieve this goal by promoting social inclusion and gender equality through national and multilateral actions, particularly in favor of the most vulnerable groups: people with disabilities, the elderly, and young people.
Being a strong supporter of youth leadership and engagement, Italy welcomed two Youth Delegates to its Third Committee delegation in New York: Annarita Napolitano and Giacomo Di Capua began their mandate earlier in September when they received the torch from their predecessors, Giulia Tariello and Gabriele Colella. Today, Di Capua delivered his first address also on behalf of Napolitano, emphasizing the ability of young people not only to be agents of change but also to become leaders. (@OnuItalia)
