ROME, MARCH 17 – Italy is ready to rebuild the Theatre of Mariupol. The Italian government approved Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini’s proposal to offer Ukraine the resources and means to rebuild it as soon as possible. “Theaters of all countries belong to the whole humanity”, Franceschini said on Twitter.
The theatre was hit by a Russian airstrike despite being a designated shelter for hundreds of civilians including children and elderly people, officials have said.
For almost three weeks, Mariupol has been under constant shelling by Russian forces, which have completely surrounded the city. About 300,000 people are trapped, with no electricity, gas or running water. Food and medicine are running low, as Russia has prevented the delivery of humanitarian aid. (@OnuItalia)
