Ambassadors’ Conference: Draghi, “Italy is stronger thanks to foreign policy”

ROME, DECEMBER 21 – Thanks to its foreign policy, Italy is stronger, more influential, more credible. “The same spirit of collaboration, the same determination, the same pride of representing Italy must accompany us next year as well”, Prime Minister Mario Draghi said at the Conference of Italian Ambassadors, keeping in mind that “ours has been an effective multilateralism, which in turn starts from the awareness that global phenomena require collective responses”. Such as, for example, the vaccination of 70% of all countries’ population by mid-2022.

The Conference was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Draghi, together with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio and Secretary-General Ettore Francesco Sequi, closed the meeting. “The last two years have been difficult for our country”, said Draghi: “But in recent months Italy has once again demonstrated its ability to react with courage, determination and unity”.

Draghi addressed issues at the heart of the international debate, including migration: “We need humanitarian corridors from third countries that engage also other European countries. And we need fair but effective repatriation agreements. In this field as well the European Union can play a leading role”. (@giorgiodelgallo)
