NEW YORK, JULY 30 – On World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Italy reaffirms its commitment to counter this scourge and protect the victims while strengthening the justice response, the Italian Mission to the UN stated on Twitter. The Mission retwitted messages sent by the United Nations and other UN Agencies: “No part of our planet is immune to human trafficking”, while “Women and girls do not have a price tag.
Women and girls should not be sexually exploited”.
Marking the World Day, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres expressed his thanks to all first responders around the world protecting victims of this horrific crime, and preventing vulnerable people from being exploited and abused: “I commend them and urge everyone to join their cause”, said Guterres.
“Every year millions of persons end up in the hands of traffickers, they are enslaved and deprived of their fundamental rights. Italy will always be at the forefront of the fight against this horrendous crime”, said the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (@OnuItalia)
