NEW YORK, JUNE 3 – The President of the United Nations General Assembly Tijjani Muhammad-Bande announced that the elections of non-permanent members of the Security Council, members of the Economic and Social Council, and the President of the 75th session of the General Assembly, will be held simultaneously, on 17 June.
Five working days prior to the elections, the President will inform Member States of the specific time slot to each voter to cast their ballot in the General Assembly Hall, in adherence to social distancing guidelines, a statement on his behalf said.
The casting of the ballots in the designated venue will be webcast. The President will oversee the proceedings in the General Assembly Hall and the tellers will also be observing the whole process.
These arrangements will be implemented in accordance with General Assembly decision 74/557 of 29 May 2020, entitled, “Procedure for holding elections by secret ballot without a plenary meeting during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic”. (@OnuItalia)
